When it comes to the 1970s I think the Americans win again Boston Styx REO Speedwagon Kansas Journey Alice Cooper Billy Joel Chicago Cheap Trick Aerosmith Heart Blue Oyster Cult (all of which had huge hits in the 1980s as well) Blondie The Cars James Taylor Carole King Lynryd Skynryd The Allman Brothers The Doobie Brothers Eagles The Marshal Tucker Band Steve Miller Band Grand Funk Railroad (ALOTTT Heavier than Black Sabbath in their earlier days... but they went soft XD) KISS (also had huge hits in the 80s) The Ramones (pretty much started PUNK.... Stooges and MC5 were just inspiration in my opinion) Fleetwood MAC (which is actually an American/British band... most of the songs were written by Stevie Nicks and Buckingham... all though Mcvie wrote alot of the music too.. also their biggest hits were written by the Americans as well... and they only came to fame WHEN the Americans joined) America.. which is actually a UK based band full of Americans who lived in military families Just to name a few XD VS Led Zeppelin (probably the biggest British band of the decade.. also started in the late 60s) Deep Purple Black Sabbath (started doom metal) Judas Priest (were huge in the 80s too) Motorhead Queen Elton John (I think Billy Joel is better overall... but Elton John wrote some extremely amazing music) ELO Pink Floyd Supertramp Wings Genesis Jethro Tull YES David Bowie T. Rex NOW when it comes to the 80s.. I have to give it to the Americans again Guns N Roses Van Halen (also a 70s band.. but I think they were bigger in the 80s.) Motley Crue RATT Quiet Riot Warrant White Lion (it actually had a Danish musician if I am not mistaken) Bon Jovi Bruce Springsteen (who was also huge in the 70s) Twisted Sister Poison Cinderella Joan Jett (part of the Runaways.. a Punk Rock group in the 70s) Lita Ford (also part of the Runaways.. she was British born.. but became American at 4 if I am not mistaken) David Lee Roth (part of Van Halen.. but also went solo) Pat Benatar ZZ Top (also big in the 70s) DIO Metallica Slayer Megadeth Overkill Exodus Anthrax Testament Joe Satriani Steve Vai just to name some of them VS Ozzy Osbourne (part of Black Sabbath but went solo) Def Leppard (which I think is the best British band of the 1980s) Whitesnake (originaly members of Deep Purple I think???) Iron Maiden Dire Straits The Cure (which I would name Alternative Rock American bands.. but that would create a much much larger list.. hAHA) Saxon thats really about it ha (unless we start talking about POP music.. but thats a different thing..
